Lander University welcomes their first ever Men’s Club Baseball Team this Fall 2016 semester. After having such an overwhelming turnout for Men’s Intramural Softball, Scott Lotze had the brilliant idea of creating a Club Baseball Team.

Lotze and Matthew Gillstrap appointed Jake Kizer to be the President of the Club Team. Kizer is thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of this team, as well as create a way for Lander students to showcase their talent and represent the University.
Kizer and Lotze had the first round of try-outs on Sept. 9, which was a successful turnout. The Men’s Club Baseball season will start sometime in the upcoming Spring 2017 semester. They will be playing a variety of teams inside and outside their conference, including Furman University, University of North Georgia, Emory, West Carolina University, University of South Carolina Union, and West Georgia.
Creating a club at Lander University is easier than you might think. First a student must create a member log containing a minimum of eight students. These students must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible; students must be enrolled in the University full time, maintain a grade point average of a 2.0 or higher, and agree to the terms of the club constitution. Each club is not given a set amount of money once created, they must fund their own expenses through fundraisers and sponsors.
