GREENWOOD – Lander’s Hugo Delhommelle, a sophomore forward from Rennes, France, was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office today.
Delhommelle scored both Lander goals last week as the Bearcats took on rival Erskine and 11th-ranked Wingate. He opened up with the game-winning score in the 83rd minute of Lander’s 1-0 win over Erskine and followed that up with LU’s lone goal in a 2-1 overtime loss at Wingate.
Lander trailed against Wingate for over 40 minutes before the sophomore found the net in the 79th minute to force overtime. The goals were the first two of the year for the reigning PBC Freshman of the Year and put him into a tie for fourth in the PBC in goals scored and a tie for sixth in points.
