Bearcats looking for a bounce back in conference play
By Jamie Lunn
It has not been the start that the men’s soccer program had hoped for. Lander are currently sitting at a disappointing 1-3 record as it stands going in to conference play against Clayton State on Saturday. Lander have not had it easy however, they had to go away to number one Pfeiffer and number eleven Wingate where they picked up two defeats. Although the record does not reflect well, there is still high hopes coming from the players of the team who are confident going in to the opening game.
When speaking to one of the stand out players from last year, Jamie North had this to say, “We have to be confident, we have a good team and great ability. Things just haven’t been going our way so far.” This was very much the common theme of the group. Ian Foulger from England had this to say, “It was a tough start but the real test is in conference and that is where we make our mark.” Lander seems to be built on great character and this huge in the grand scheme of keeping focused along with a positive mindset.
The bearcats aren’t ready to give up so let’s get out and cheer them to victory and a Peach belt title. They play Clayton state September 17th and Flagler September 22nd at the Van Taylor stadium, Greenwood.
