Professor loses home to fire


    On Saturday (Sept. 10), Lander education professor Rebecca Fernandez (known to many simply as “Fern”) and her husband Bobby lost their home in a devastating house fire. Thankfully no one was injured in the fire. But along with their home, Fern and Bobby lost practically everything they own. Details about the fire are covered in a Greenwood Index-Journal story here:

    Within our community and far beyond, Fern is a stalwart of unwavering support for her students, colleagues and just about everyone she meets. Invariably, when someone is in need, Fern is the go-to person in making sure those needs are met. Now it’s time for us to help Fern and Bobby.
