
GREENWOOD – The Lander men’s soccer team earned its first victory of the season Wednesday night, defeating Erskine College, 1-0, in a non-conference game at Huggins Field.
Lander, which leads the Erskine series, 26-10-2, improves to 1-2 overall, while the Flying Fleet drops to 1-1.
Sophomore Hugo Delhommelle netted the game’s lone goal at the 82:17 mark, giving the Bearcats their first win of the year and third consecutive victory over Erskine.
Lander outshot Erskine, 18-8 and dominated corner kicks, 10-0.
Freshman goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy recorded one save, while Erskine’s Martin Arias stopped eight Bearcat shots.
Lander travels to Wingate for a 7:30 match on Saturday night.
